What can an immigration lawyer do for my case?

We prepare and file the applications that move your case forward. That includes gathering documentation, completing the correct forms, meeting filing deadlines, and responding to government requests. Whether your matter is family-based or employment-based, the goal is the same: a complete, accurate submission the first time. Our founder, Janie Sapon, has practiced immigration law for more than a decade and has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2012. That experience shapes how we handle each filing. We believe that people matter most, and we treat every case that way.

Do I need to speak English to work with your firm?

No. We work with clients in both English and Spanish. Immigration matters are already stressful, and a language barrier shouldn’t make them harder. Janie is fluent in Spanish and spent seven months living and working in Mexico, so communication in either language is straightforward. You can explain your situation in the language you’re most comfortable with, and we’ll make sure nothing gets lost along the way. If you or a family member has a question about your options, reach out and we’ll walk you through them.

Can you help my company recruit foreign workers?

Yes. We connect U.S. employers with qualified candidates and then carry the immigration side of the hire from start to finish. This service grew out of an international recruitment network our founder built alongside her husband to link businesses with the workforce they need. We’ve worked closely with agriculture, food production, and manufacturing employers, and Janie has presented at the National Pork Industry Forum on these issues. If your business is facing labor shortages, let’s talk about how to fill those roles the right way.

How do I know if my company’s I-9 records are compliant?

Most employers don’t, until an audit forces the question. We review your I-9 documentation, identify errors, correct what can be corrected, and train your HR team on proper verification going forward. Small mistakes on these forms add up, and errors can expose your business to civil penalties. Our work focuses heavily on employer immigration solutions, and our senior associate, Kathleen C. Lee, serves as a USCIS liaison, which keeps our compliance guidance grounded in current agency practice. Addressing gaps now is far easier than correcting them under audit pressure. Contact us to schedule an audit of your records.

How long does the immigration process take?

Immigration timelines vary widely based on the visa category, your country of origin, current government processing times, and whether your case requires additional documentation or review. Some matters can move forward in a few months, while family-based petitions, permanent residency cases, and certain employment-based filings may take considerably longer. During a consultation, our team can review your circumstances, explain the likely process, and help you plan for the next step.
